“And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries? And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the LORD am I now come. … And the captain of the LORD’S host said unto Joshua, Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest is holy. And Joshua did so.” Joshua 5:13-15

Life is full of its challenges and everyone has a share. The book of Joshua quoted above is about the people of God, the Israelites when they were confronted with adversaries. The found themselves in the middle of a severe battle and God sent His angel to fight for them. This passage buttresses the fact that God does not desert His people during their trials, particularly when they are in good standing with Him.

There are four things you will never outgrow in life; which are:

Warfare: Battle of life is real and no one outgrows them. No matter how prayerful you are, there is always a battle to fight.
Instruction: You will always need instructions. God gives instruction. It is good to adhere to God’s instructions. Listen to divine instructions for your life. God’s method is different from men’s method.
Disappointment: People you trust will let you down. One of the laws of life is to expect disappointments so that you will not be disappointed when it happens.
Relationship: You will always need people to take you to your next level in life. Our victory in life depends on our relationship with God. You need to service relationships. There is always a Jericho wall standing before every person in life.
David was chosen by God, yet he had his share of life battles. Every patriarch in the bible had their own share. God has given His children the power to decide the outcome of their battles, however, don’t get into the battles you can avoid. Some people add to their battles by their behaviour or speech. Also, do not be intimidated by your opponents or the battles because there is a greater God backing you. Listen to God, not what people say. Run away from distractions and focus on God.

The key to victory is ‘the word’. How much of God’s word dwells in you? A lot of Christians do not know God’s word. Be careful what people say to you and what you say with your mouth.  Your words are powerful. The word gives strategies and strategy is better than energy. Every time the devil is fighting you, he’s fighting your purpose in order to stop what God has decided for your life. The real battle of life is to stop you from where you are designed to be.

Basis for victory

Remember your Relationship with God. Be born again. Your weapon of sonship.
Remember your experiences with God. If you remember what God has done for you in the past, you will know He can do it for you again. Your weapon of testimony.
Victory over any battle moves you to your next level. To move to your next level God can allow some battle, but be rest assured that victory is certain in Christ. Whatever the battle or challenge you are going through now be assured that God is with you and it will turn out a testimony. Shalom!
